SALT LAKE CITY — You could say David is a little like a walking encyclopedia. He's got all the facts.

At the Natural History Museum on Wednesday, his knowledge of the past was on full display, even with his tour guide.

"If I'm not mistaken, this is a crystal," he said to a museum employee as he looked closely through his magnifying glass.

He could talk for hours about rocks and minerals, but what's not so easy for the 16-year-old is to talk about is his living situation.

"I go in and out of different homes to see if I can be matched up with the perfect family," he said.

David lives in the Utah Foster Care system and so far he hasn't found that perfect family. He hasn't been able to stay with a family long enough to build any sort of history of his own.

"I make new friends and then I have to go to a different home and have to learn to make new friends," he said.

While most teens David's age are worried about passing their driver's license test, his worries are much heavier.

"I go in and out so fast I don't get time for people to adjust and for people to get to know me, learn more about me and learn to take care of me," he said.

He wants to leave all the moving around in the past.

"(I want) to be adopted and have a family of my own and be able to keep that family for as long as I live," he said.

David would like to unpack his bags for good and finally go home.

"It would mean so much to me and I would be overjoyed."
