SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department’s SWAT training program began this weekend before the sun came up.
“SWAT school” commenced at 3 a.m. Sunday morning, and participants in the course will continue their instruction through Friday.
The annual program hosts candidates from law enforcement agencies throughout the valley and the rigorous course serves as a selection process as well as a basic SWAT training exercise. Those who run the weeklong exercise say they’re looking for candidates who demonstrate stamina, leadership, and teamwork.
The weather this weekend was not pleasant, and trainees got a taste of the upcoming week and invited KSL to document the morning’s drills.
