Chihuahuas edge Bees 2-1 to end S.L. 5-game win streak

EL PASO, Texas — The Bees five game winning streak came to an end, as the El Paso Chihuahuas edged Salt Lake 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.

El Paso loaded the bases with no outs in the first inning on an infield single and two hit batters by Salt Lake starter Alex Sanabia, but scored just one run on a double play. In the third, the Chihuahuas made it 2-0, as Abraham Almonte delivered a one out double and scored on the single by Rymer Liriano. The Bees scored their only run in the sixth when Kyle Kubitza led off with his first home run of the season.

Sanabia (0-3) took the loss despite allowing just two runs on five hits in six innings with two walks, three strikeouts and two hit batters. The relief corps of Frank Herrmann and Atahualpa Severino combined to work two scoreless innings. Carlos Perez led the Bees' offense with three hits, including a double. Efren Navarro and Daniel Robertson each added a pair of singles, as El Paso evens the series at one win apiece

The Bees return to Smith's Ballpark on Monday, May 4 for an eight-game homestand against the Tacoma Rainiers and Reno Aces.
