LOGAN — Former Utah State quarterback Darell Garretson still hasn't made a decision about where to play his final two seasons of eligibility. But it won't be Washington, according to media reports.

ESPN.com's Joe Schad dropped the news via Twitter on Monday that the former Aggie signal caller was unable to complete a transfer to Washington because the Huskies are a future Utah State opponent. The Aggies play at Washington on Sept. 10, though Garretson still has to sit out one year if he transfers to a Football Bowl Subdivision school, per NCAA regulations.

Along with its Mountain West Conference schedule, the Aggies also have non-conference games scheduled against Southern Utah, Utah, BYU, Southern California and Wisconsin through the 2017 season.

Oregon State remains a possibility, Schad reported.

The Beavers became an intriguing potential destination for Garretson when former Utah State offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Kevin McGiven, who coached Garretson, took the quarterbacks coach job at Oregon State. The Beavers are preparing for their first season under new head coach Gary Andersen, who helped recruit Garretson out of high school.

But Garretson told OregonLive.com that he had "no contact" with the Beavers in a report as recent as 10 days ago, shortly after receiving his release papers from Utah State.

"I'd be open to them just like I'd be open to anyone who contacts me," Garretson said on April 10. "I don't really have a place to play right now, so I'm just looking for the right fit."

The 6-foot, 200-pound junior threw for 1,140 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore before missing the back half of the season with a wrist injury suffered against Colorado State. Garretson also led the Aggies with a 6-1 record as a freshman, including a win over Northern Illinois in the Poinsettia Bowl.

Andersen typically likes to have at least four quarterbacks in practice, and the Beavers currently have Seth Collins, Nick Mitchell and Marcus McMaryion vying for the starting job in 2015.
