PARK CITY — A ski instructor employed by Deer Valley Resort was killed when he crashed into a lift tower Sunday afternoon, police say.

Rafal Uzieblo, 42, of Park City, died at the scene after he crashed on the Bird’s Eye ski run. Uzieblo was skiing with his wife, other family members and friends at the time, said Park City Police Capt. Rick Ryan.

Police were dispatched to the resort about 2:30 p.m. Uzieblo was not wearing any protective gear at the time, Ryan said.

Police were still determining Monday what had caused Uzieblo to crash.
