PROVO — A fire at a hotel forced several families from their rooms. Some of the damage was caused by firefighters trying to find the fire.
A customer at the Little Suites Inn at 1380 S. University Avenue reported smelling smoke around 12:45 a.m. but firefighters initially couldn't find a fire. Eventually they discovered it between the walls of two rooms.
Crews were forced to rip holes in some walls to extinguish the flames.
Eight rooms were damaged. No one was injured. The fire department estimates damage at $50,000 to $75,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The hotel was able to accommodate all the customers displaced by the fire.
