OREM — Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a man they say robbed a Orem bakery.
Around 3:45 p.m. on Friday, a man entered La Brioche Bakery located at 845 N. 100 West and appeared like he was going to buy some cookies, the Orem Police Department said in a press release. The man handed a cashier some cash and a note that demanded money and the cashier’s cell phone.
The cashier gave the man cash but didn’t hand over her phone, police said. He did not appear to have a weapon. The man then left in a white or silver 4-door car. No one was hurt during the interaction, police said.
The man is described as between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall with scruffy facial hair and a slender, muscular build. He was wearing a white or light-colored jacket with a hood, jeans, a hat and sunglasses.
Police have released surveillance footage of the robbery. Anyone with information is asked to call the Orem Police Department at 801-229-7070.
Editor's Note: It was originally reported that the robbery was in Salt Lake City, but the event took place in Orem. The copy reflects the change.
