TRENTON, Cache County — A motorcyclist suffered head and foot injuries after crashing into a tree and fence Saturday night, officials said.

At about 6:45 p.m., 27-year-old Jeremy Jones was traveling with his father, who was on a separate motorcycle, heading southbound on state Route 23 just south of Trenton, according to the Utah Department of Public Safety.

The two reportedly got into an argument and Jones became upset and sped away at a "high rate of speed," DPS said. Jones' father attempted to keep up with his son but was unable to due to his son's high speeds.

About 2 miles north of Trenton Cemetery, Jones veered off the roadway, striking a tree and fence post.

The motorcycle soon came to rest after hitting a waterwheel line in a field.

DPS noted that Jones was not wearing a helmet at the time, and he suffered a "partially amputated foot and head injury."

Jones was transported by ambulance to Cache Valley Hospital and then flown via medical helicopter to an Ogden hospital.

Troopers are investigating excessive speed and possible alcohol impairment as contributing factors in the crash, according to DPS.
