WEST POINT — A man arrested for a fatal shooting over the weekend was charged Monday with murder.

Jory Fenstermaker, 21, of Ogden, was charged in 2nd District Court with murder, a first-degree felony.

Fenstermaker is accused of shooting Randy Lennell Lewis, 29, of Kansas City, Missouri, on Sunday after getting into an argument with him. Lewis used to date the woman who Fenstermaker is currently dating, according to the Davis County Sheriff's Office.

The woman told investigators that the argument was "minor," but said Fenstermaker "pulled a handgun out" and pointed it at Lewis. "Homeowner tried to break up the fight and heard a gunshot. She said that the suspect then ran out of the residence through the front door and she saw that the victim had blood coming from his stomach," charging documents state.

The three of them were reportedly at the house for a "get-together" before it turned confrontational. The woman's two children were in the home asleep at the time of the shooting.

Police said drinking and drugs were involved in the incident.

Fenstermaker made an initial appearance in court Monday where bail was set at $500,000. An arraignment is scheduled for April 2.

Fenstermaker was already scheduled to appear in court next week for a preliminary hearing on a separate case charging him with having a fake ID, giving false information to a police officer and having an open container in a vehicle.

Lewis, who used to live in Clearfield, had current warrants out for his arrest for failing to follow court orders in two misdemeanor cases, according to court records.
