WELLSVILLE, Cache County — A man died after being catapulted out of the bucket of a boom truck Wednesday, officials said.

Jeffery Glenn, 50, fell about 30 feet while trimming a tree near 300 South and 300 West in Wellsville, according to the Cache County Sheriff’s Office. The accident occurred at about 5:30 p.m.

“(Glenn) tied a rope to the tree and the boom in an attempt to keep tree limbs away from power lines,” a statement from the sheriff’s office reads. “While trimming, the rope broke, catapulting the victim out of the bucket and onto a pile of wood.”

Witnesses initiated CPR, but Glenn was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Logan Regional Hospital, according to investigators. They said the State Medical Examiner’s office will determine the cause of death.
