FARR WEST, Weber — A fight broke out at a construction site Wednesday morning after a man played a prank on his co-worker, officials said.

Police deputies responded to 2250 N. 2575 West at 10:21 a.m. after a citizen reported three or four males physically fighting. The citizen reported one male was injured and lying on the ground, the Weber County Sheriff’s Office reported in a news release.

Allegedly, one man had a baseball bat and others had pieces of rebar and foundation forms from off the house.

Several of the individuals left the construction site in separate cars. Deputies located one of the cars on 2700 North and made a felony stop in front of a 7-Eleven gas station, detaining the occupants, according to the news release.

While one of the deputies was handcuffing one of the men, the man head-butted him in the face, according to police. At first, it appeared to be intentional, but it turned out to be “incidental contact.” The deputy “was not seriously injured,” according to the news release.

Traffic on 2700 North was shut down for about 10 or 15 minutes while police secured the scene. Deputies located the other individuals involved in the fight and interviewed them.

Deputies learned the fight started after one of the men hid a piece of clothing that belonged to his co-worker. All of the individuals involved are adults.

One of the men sustained minor injuries, but “none of the parties involved wanted to be victims or pursue criminal charges,” the news release said.

No charges were filed and police let all the participants go, the news release said.
