SALT LAKE CITY — A man with a gunshot wound entered a 7-Eleven Tuesday morning, complaining of chest pains, police said.
A man in his 40s entered the 7-Eleven at 1353 W. Indiana Avenue around 11:45 a.m., according to Salt Lake City police. The man was complaining of chest pain and a patron at the store called 911 to get medical assistance for the man, police said.
When emergency responders arrived on the scene, they discovered a gunshot wound in the man's shoulder area, police said. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators said they don’t believe the shooting happened at the 7-Eleven, but that it may have occurred in the area. Officers searched at a nearby apartment complex, but the victim was not cooperative with investigators, refusing to give his name, where he was shot or who might have shot him.
Police are no longer searching for a shooter, but were working Tuesday to confirm the man's identity.
