BOUNTIFUL — A Sandy woman was killed early Tuesday after the car she was traveling in crashed on I-15.
There was evidence at the scene that alcohol may have been involved, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
Just after 3 a.m., a Chevrolet Impala traveling north on I-15 failed to make a turn near 400 North and drove into the median, through construction barrels, and crashed into the back of a parked construction truck, according to the UHP.
The front seat passenger of the Impala, Sarah O'Connor-Green, 27, was killed. Investigators said she was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver, a 39-year-old woman from Sandy, was wearing a seat belt. She was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening. UHP investigators say they will wait for toxicology tests to be completed before handing the case over to the Davis County Attorney's Office to decide whether criminal charges are warranted.
No construction workers were injured in the incident.
