2 men rob same smoke shop twice, police say

SALT LAKE CITY — The Unified Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying two men who allegedly robbed the Shop N Save smoke shop twice this month.

The men first robbed the establishment Jan. 16 at about 7:30 p.m.. The two entered the shop, 970 E. 3300 South, and one of them demanded money and cigarettes from the clerk while the other brandished a gun, according to Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal.

The clerk complied and the men took an undisclosed amount of money from the till along with cigarettes from the store before they fled the smoke shop on foot. No one was injured during the robbery, Hoyal said.

According to Hoyal, the same men entered the shop again Wednesday at 6:06 p.m. and one of them brandished a gun while the other demanded money and cigarettes from the clerk. The clerk complied and the men took money and cigarettes before fleeing on foot. Nobody was hurt during the second robbery.

The first man is described as Hispanic, 6 feet tall and about 200 pounds with short black hair. He appears to be between 19 and 20 years old and has a small tattoo on the right side of his face, near his eye, according to police. He was wearing a black jacket with white stripes on the waistband and cuffs, a red University of Utah beanie, a white T-shirt, black jeans and black tennis shoes with white soles, Hoyal said.

The second man is described as Hispanic, in his mid-20s, 6 feet tall and about 200 pounds with short black hair. He was wearing a black hoodie, a black beanie, black shoes and black pants. He was also armed with a black hand gun, Hoyal said.

Anyone with any information about the robbery or the identity of the men are asked to call the UPD at 385-468-9818.

The men are considered armed and dangerous.
