BEAR RIVER, Box Elder County — Kathy Taylor, the Bear River woman who was diagnosed with terminal melanoma cancer while pregnant with her sixth child, died at her home Wednesday.
Taylor died around 4 p.m. at the age of 34, according to her family.
Taylor's story garnered national attention after it was first shared by KSL, with members of the community rallying together. Even singer Sarah McLachlan donating proceeds of a song Taylor covered to help with medical costs.
Nathan Taylor, Kathy Taylor's husband, wrote about the experience on the Kathy's Miracle blog. He wrote that he was in shock when his parents, who were visiting the home at the time to help care for his wife, told him she had died.
The mother of five was diagnosed with an aggressive form of melanoma when she was 26 weeks pregnant. Kathy Taylor gave birth to a son, Luke, prematurely on Sept. 11, but he died a few days later.
