LAYTON — Police have recovered clothing and a vehicle they believe were used during a bank robbery in Layton earlier this month.

Around 9:20 a.m. Dec. 19, two men robbed the Key Bank at 999 N. Hill Field Road in Layton. The men, dressed as security guards, demanded money and physically assaulted at least four bank employees.

One man entered first, confronting two male employees sitting in cubicles near the lobby, according to police. He then grabbed the phone from one of the employee’s hands, hung it up and “roughed up” the two men.

The second jumped over the teller counter, contacting two females. Employees were slapped or punched on the side of the head, kicked or pushed, according to Sgt. Alex Davis with Layton City Police Department.

No serious physical injuries were sustained, though one woman went to the hospital for treatment of nonlife-threatening injuries after complaining of pain related to being pushed down, Davis said.

The men fled in a gold four-door passenger car with rear tinted windows.

Since the robbery, police recovered the vehicle in a park and ride lot at 160 N. 600 West in Kaysville. Clothing matching that seen on bank security footage was recovered nearby, police said Wednesday. Orange retail sales tags were found on a hat with a security logo.

Police are looking for further information on the robbers. The first is described as a black male of average to large build, standing about 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet 3 inches tall, age 20 to 30. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing sunglasses, a hat with a security logo on the front, a black vest with a security logo on the pocket and back, black gloves with white markings and a gold badge on the chest pocket, with black pants and a black long-sleeved shirt.

The second man is described as a black male between the ages of 20 and 30, of average build and 6 feet to 6 feet 4 inches tall. He was also wearing sunglasses and a hat with a security logo, matching vest and black gloves, but he wore tan pants and a long-sleeved shirt.

Anyone with information about activity at the park and ride or the retail tags on the clothing or the identity of the men is asked to call the Layton Police Department at 801-497-8300 or submit information on the department’s Facebook page.
