Smith catches touchdown in Baltimore win

SALT LAKE CITY — Baltimore Ravens receiver Steve Smith is out to prove he can still get it done.

An NFL veteran, Smith is playing with his second team and has boosted an offense missing several cast members.

Smith helped Baltimore stay in the playoff race this week as he caught seven passes for 70 yards and a touchdown as the Ravens beat the Miami Dolphins 28-13.

Several other Utah alumni had highlight performances. Kansas City quarterback Alex Smith passed for 293 yards and a touchdown, but the Chiefs fell 17-14 to the Arizona Cardinals. Chiefs defensive back Sean Smith had four tackles in the game. Minnesota running back Matt Asiata rushed for 54 yards as the Vikings beat the New York Jets 30-24 in overtime.


Former Aggies running back Kerwynn Williams rushed for 100 yards in Arizona's 17-14 win over Kansas City.

Defensively, Paul Kruger forced a fumble, but the Cleveland Browns fell 25-24 to the Indianapolis Colts. Star Lotulelei made a tackle in Carolina’s 41-10 win over New Orleans, and Pittsburgh’s Brice McCain made two tackles in a 42-21 victory over Cincinnati. Also, Koa Misi and Derrick Shelby combined for eight tackles in Miami’s loss to Baltimore.

San Diego and New England matched up in primetime Sunday, and several former Utes faced each other. Sealver Siliga made three tackles for New England, while Eric Weddle made seven tackles for the Chargers. The Patriots won the game, 24-13.

Detroit’s Ezekiel Ansah made a tackle and a sack in a 34-17 win over Tampa Bay. Utah State alums Robert Turbin and Bobby Wagner helped earn Seattle a victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, 24-14. Turbin had a catch for 14 yards, and Wagner made seven tackles.

Former Utah State running back Kerwynn Williams rushed for 100 yards for Arizona in his first game off the practice squad, as the Cardinals beat Kansas City, 17-14.
