SALT LAKE CITY — Coming off a 69-68 overtime win against then-No. 8 Wichita State, the University of Utah basketball team has taken a significant jump in the polls.

The Runnin' Utes jumped from No. 25 to No. 13 in the Associated Press Top 25 rankings and from unranked to No. 14 in the USA Today Coaches Poll Monday afternoon. The current ranking in the AP poll is the highest since the 2004-05 season where Utah was ranked as high as No. 13.

Utah ended Wichita State's 35-game regular season winning streak on Wednesday. The Utes have a 6-1 record and are lead by senior point guard Delon Wright, who is averaging 18.0 points on 71 percent shooting, 5.0 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game.

Utah begins a difficult three-game road test, starting with in-state rival BYU Wednesday night, No. 10 Kansas on Saturday and UNLV next week.

"Winning x-amount of (games) isn’t going to be a cinch for anything," Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak said following the Wichita State game. "There’s a lot of basketball left to play against some really good teams.”
