CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — NASA’s Orion spacecraft may have been an unmanned mission, but with the help of photos, members of the public can feel as if they were along for the ride.
Throughout Orion’s journey, NASA updated the Orion blog and tweeted images of the launch, journey and splashdown. The spacecraft had a successful liftoff at 7:05 a.m. EST Friday, reached a height of 3,600 miles and splashed down in the Pacific Ocean at 11:29 a.m.

As Orion flight director Mike Sarafin said after the launch, “While this mission was unmanned, we were all aboard Orion.”
