WEST VALLEY CITY — West Valley City police are trying to locate an endangered teenager who went missing Thursday morning.

Elexis Hernandez, 13, was last seen at Westlake Junior HIgh School, 3400 South 3450 West, according to West Valley City police officer Roxeanne Vainuku.

Elexis is 5 feet 5 inches tall, 110 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a gray sweater with either the word “peace” or “love” on the front, dark-colored pants and Ugg style boots, Vainuku said.

Surveillance cameras showed video of Elexis leaving the south side of the building around 8:30 a.m. and heading south into the parking lot toward a silver, 4-door passenger car parking in the school’s parking lot, Vainuku said.

The car may be a late model Hyundai Elantra, Vainuku said.

Surveillance cameras also showed an unknown woman, wearing a light gray, zip-front hooded sweatshirt with a white T-shirt underneath, red pants and flip-flop sandals, inside the school 10 minutes before Elexis left, Vainuku said.

Elexis lives with her father, who has sole custody, but she has family and friends living outside the state, specifically Southern California or Phoenix, Arizona. Investigators believe she may attempt to leave Utah, Vainuku said.

Vainuku also said Elexis recently expressed suicidal thoughts.

Police listed Elexis on the NCIC database, and an attempt to locate her has been issued in Utah and the surrounding states, Vainuku said.

If you have any information regarding Elexis, call West Valley City police at 801-840-4000.
