Motorists call for changes to 'confusing' intersection following fatal crash

Two crashes at the same intersection in less than 24 hours, one of them claiming the life a young mother, have concerned residents calling for change.

The intersection has been under construction since the summer. The Utah Department of Transportation is reconfiguring the road so Bangerter will go over Redwood — like a bridge — by next summer.

Darrien Hunt's mother charged in confrontation with police

The mother of Darrien Hunt has been charged with several misdemeanors for an alleged confrontation with Saratoga Springs police.

Susan Hunt, 51, was charged Nov. 25 in Saratoga Springs Justice Court with interfering with an arresting officer, a class B misdemeanor; driving on a denied license, a class C misdemeanor; failing to disperse, a class C misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, an infraction.

Driver of tanker that exploded identified

The man hauling gasoline in a tanker that crashed and exploded while exiting I-15 on the U.S. 6 off-ramp was identified Saturday night.

Leslie Shelton, 28, of Fruita, Colorado, was reportedly pulled from the burning tanker and flown by medical helicopter to the Intermountain Burn Center. He was in stable condition Saturday, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Man allegedly accepts ride from 3 women, gets pistol-whipped by 2 men

A man who claims he was robbed and pistol-whipped by three women and two men was taken to the hospital Sunday.

A passerby spotted the 34-year-old man in an alley near 2700 South and Adams Street (430 East). Because of the blood trail, the passerby thought the man had been in an auto-pedestrian accident and called 911.

Driver tells passenger to fake injury in failed attempt to avoid arrest

A man who allegedly led police on a high-speed chase before pulling over at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and telling his passenger to fake an injury was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail.
