DUCHESNE — A rollover crash briefly closed U.S. 40 Monday night in Duchesne County, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
The incident began about 6:30 p.m. when public safety dispatchers broadcast an attempt-to-locate for a reckless driver in a pickup truck, UHP Lt. Beau Mason said. Troopers were still looking for the truck at 6:45 p.m. when calls started coming in about a crash involving the same truck, Mason said.
The driver had taken out "a large section of guardrail" about 9 miles east of Duchesne, before rolling the truck once, according to the lieutenant. The man was outside the truck when troopers reached the crash, Mason said.
The man was taken by ambulance to Uintah Basin Medical Center with "substantial injuries," Mason said.
The crash closed U.S. 40 for about 45 minutes. The driver is expected to receive a citation once troopers finish their investigation, Mason said.
