LOGAN — A heating unit on the roof of a Smith's store caught fire Sunday.

The store, 710 N. Main, had to be evacuated for several hours. No one was injured.

Crews were called to the scene about 8:30 a.m., according to Logan Fire Marshal Craig Humphreys. The fire destroyed the HVAC unit and some roofing material, he said.

Damage was estimated at $40,000. The cause of the fire was still being investigated Sunday. The store was reopened by early afternoon.
