SALT LAKE CITY — A man who struck a Utah High Patrol trooper’s vehicle was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol and medications Saturday night, authorities say.
Around 6 p.m., Charles Ericksen, 46, hit the “right rear panel” of the trooper’s vehicle with his car as the trooper was stopped on the left side of the 2100 N. I-215 West southbound on-ramp to check on a disabled vehicle, according to the Utah Department of Public Safety. The trooper was not injured and medical responders checked Ericksen for “issues unrelated to the crash.”
Ericksen was subsequently transported to LDS hospital, where he was arrested.
