SALT LAKE CITY — A member of the well-known Winder family, living in China, has died after complications from medical problems.

Aimee Winder Newton, sister of 28-year-old Isaac Winder, said he got food poisoning about a month ago. Isaac was on medication for previous medical issues and doctors told the family his levels got out of balance and his health quickly deteriorated.

Isaac's wife, Candalyn, who was working in China, will be returning to the United States with their daughter, Adair, in the coming days.

"We're determined as a family that we're going to take good care of Candalyn and Adair and do whatever we can to help them and help her know that she had a loving, kind father who was a great man," Newton said.

Isaac's brother, Mike Winder — former mayor of West Valley City — and their father, Kent, flew to China earlier this week to be with Isaac. Newton said they got their Visas early and were able to be there Sunday when Isaac died.

Funeral arrangements are being made, and more information will be updated as it becomes available.
