GRAND FORKS, N.D. — Victory has finally found the Weber State Wildcats.

In the season’s 10th week, Weber State coach Jay Hill earned his first victory as the lead man in Ogden as the Wildcats went on the road and defeated North Dakota 24-12.

The victory certainly wasn’t pretty, but the Wildcats can now move into a game against Northern Colorado with confidence and momentum after looking at the instant observations from this week.

The Good: Victory -----------------

The benefit of getting a win for this football team shouldn’t be overstated. The Wildcats had struggled mightily through a 0-9 start but weren’t close to being a bad football team. With the momentum of a win behind them, maybe the Wildcats can focus on breaking out of the problems that have bothered them throughout the year.

The Bad: Third-Down conversions

Weber converted 6-of-15 third-down attempts, and while the mark isn’t terrible, the Wildcats have to get better on converting third downs. The lack of rushing yards certainly hurt the team in this attempt, as it’s tough to pick up on third-and-short yardage situations when running is a struggle.

The Ugly: Rushing yards

The Wildcats rushed for 318 yards in a loss, and rushed for only 41 yards in a win. Don’t even try to look for logic behind that statistic.
