CLEARFIELD — A two-alarm fire in Clearfield disrupted traffic on Antelope drive for several hours because of thick, black smoke that impaired drivers Sunday afternoon, fire officials say.

Around 2:40 p.m., the North Davis Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at the Freeport Center near 300 West and Antelope drive.

North Davis Fire District Mark Sessions said the fire began in a pile of excess storage between two businesses.

"The fuel appeared to be old television sets and computers piled up in the area," Sessions said.

Fifty or more firefighters from Clinton Fire Department, Layton Fire Department and Syracuse Fire Department battled the blaze that billowed as high as 50 feet due to high winds.

Sessions said officials are continuing to investigate what caused Sunday's fire.

No injuries were reported.

More information will be provided as information becomes available.
