LAYTON — A man was arrested Monday afternoon after robbing a bank and causing a precautionary lockout at a nearby high school on Oct. 23.

The robbery occurred at the Wells Fargo at 320 E. Gentile St. around 9 a.m., according to the Layton City Police Department. A man entered the bank and gave the teller a note demanding money and stating he had a gun, police said. A weapon was never shown and there were no injuries during the robbery.

The robbery prompted a precautionary lockout at Layton High School for a short time while police searched for the man.

The robber was located by Layton detectives Monday afternoon near 25th Street and Jefferson Avenue in Ogden. Paul C. Anderton, 29, was arrested and booked into the Davis County Jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery.

“We would like to thank the public for all the tips and information which helped lead to an arrest in this case,” the Layton Police Department said in a statement.
