SANDY — A 19-year-old man was arrested Sunday for investigation of felony child abuse after doctors found his infant son had 13 fractures.
Zachary Michael Brand was at a fast-food restaurant Friday changing the diaper of his 2-month-old son when he "twisted his son's leg and also the ankle, causing the leg to fracture," according to a Salt Lake County Jail report.
Later that night, as his son continued to cry, Brand used "excessive force" as he grabbed his son's wrist and shook it, the report stated.
The child was taken to Primary Children's Hospital, where doctors discovered the infant had sustained "up to 13 fractures."
