Like most high school football teams this week, Brighton and Jordan have a quick turnaround since Friday to compete with one another in Wednesday's game at Jordan High School.
Jordan football coach Eric Kjar said mid-week games don't leave much room to focus on regular contact drills during practice. However, teams are able to make changes that will improve plays offensively and defensively.
"(We are) focusing on injury training, trying to get some people in some different spots, and cleaning things up a little bit," he said. "Defensively, we trying to get players in different spots."
The two region teams don't need to travel too far to contend, and both teams carry diverse schemes.
"Any region games we try to focus on and get excited to play them," Kjar said. "It will be fun. I'm excited to get the guys out there."
The Bengals have players who play offense and defense, while Jordan tries to platoon its players as much as possible.
"We are running the ball with Austin Kafentzis and Daniel Loua. If we can get the run game going with them, that's a big deal," said Kjar. "Any guys offensively, AJ Townsend and Spencer Curtis are our receivers, and Cooper Clark should have a good night on defense."
"As for their guys, they are pretty talented," Kjar said. "We will need to limit their running backs such as Simi Fohoko and Osa Masina."
