LOGAN — Investigators are trying to determine what started a garage fire Tuesday evening that eventually burned through the roof of the house.

Emergency dispatchers received several calls reporting the fire near 300 West and 200 North. When firefighters arrived, they found “a single family home with fire through the roof above the two-car garage,” North Logan Fire Deputy Chief Craig Humphreys said in a written statement.

A couple and their dog were home at the time and were able to escape without injury, Humphreys said.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but not before it did an estimated $100,000 damage to the home.

Humphreys said fire crews will stay at the home through the night to control any hot spots. An investigation into the cause of the fire will begin Wednesday morning, he said.
