HYRUM, Cache County — Police are investigating a shooting death after a man allegedly shot his brother-in-law in a fight Tuesday night.

Police responding to the shooting about 4:20 p.m. at 84 N. 600 East took the man into custody for questioning, Cache County Sheriff's Lt. Mike Peterson said. The man was cooperative and waiting at the home for police when they arrived.

The wife of the deceased man and a neighbor were also in the home at the time of the shooting, Peterson said. They were also being interviewed.

"We're not quite sure what the argument was over," Peterson said. "We know for sure that the brother-in-law fired, but we don't know if any other shots were fired at this point in time."

The deceased man's name was not released Tuesday night. Peterson said the man lived in the home, while the man who was taken into custody lives elsewhere in Cache Valley.
