SALT LAKE CITY — Police are seeking a man and woman after they stole a handgun and threatened a man Monday evening.

The robbery occurred near 1200 E. Alameda Ave. around 9:30 p.m., according to Salt Lake City police detective Richard Chipping. A man left his apartment unlocked when he left for a moment and when he returned, he found a man and woman inside his living room, Chipping said.

The male robber had located the victim’s handgun on his nightstand and he threatened the victim with it, Chipping said. The victim said the robber held him at gunpoint and made him come inside the apartment and then the man and woman fled in an unknown direction.

The victim described the male robber as a white man in his 20s, wearing dark clothing and a baseball hat. The female robber was described as a white woman in her 20s, wearing a black hoodie.

Chipping said people should remember to be vigilant in taking care of personal belongings.

"Make sure you always lock your doors," Chipping said. "Secure firearms if you have them. Don't just leave them laying around. It's always a big concern."

Anyone with information about the robbery can contact the Salt Lake City Police Department at 801-799-3000.
