SALT LAKE CITY — A two-alarm fire caused by a candle displaced 36 residents at an apartment complex Saturday, fire officials said.
The utilities had to be turned off at 1028 S. West Temple after the accidentally started fire, forcing residents to temporarily relocate. Nine apartments were affected by the fire, but only the unit where it started and its neighboring apartment experienced fire damage.
Fire officials said two adults and a child live in one of the units damaged by flames, and three adults reside in the other.
The other seven apartments had heat, smoke and water damage, and the fire also extended into the complex's attic.
