LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Only four Mountain West Conference teams picked up wins in week four of the college football season, but few were more cherished than New Mexico’s 38-35 victory over New Mexico State in the Rio Grande rivalry on Saturday night.

Crusoe Gongbay ran for 139 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries, and the Lobos (1-2) scored four touchdowns on the ground in picking up their first win of the season.

New Mexico also picked off Aggie quarterback Tyler Rogers twice, and the Lobos only attempted five passes (completing three of them by two players) in the victory.

Rogers finished 32-of-47 for 333 yards and two touchdowns to lead New Mexico State.

Here’s how the rest of the Mountain West did during the week.

Boise State 34, Louisiana-Lafayette 9

At Boise, Jay Ajayi carried the ball 27 times for 150 yards and three touchdowns in a Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week performance as the Broncos (3-1) cruised by the Ragin’ Cajuns (1-3).

Grant Hedrick threw for 237 yards on 24 of 31 passing for Boise State, including 107 yards on Matt Miller’s five receptions.

Terrance Broadway was 20 of 38 for 160 yards through the air for Louisiana-Lafayette.

Wyoming 20, Florida Atlantic 19

At Laramie, Wyoming, quarterback Colby Kirkegaard found Dominic Rufran for an 88-yard reception while trailing 19-17 with two minutes left that set up Stuart Williams’ game-winning field goal as the Cowboys (3-1) edged the Owls (1-3).

Shaun Wick ran for 111 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries for Wyoming.

Fresno State 56, Southern Utah 16

At Fresno, California, the Bulldogs used three quarterbacks with touchdowns to four receivers in the rout of the Thunderbirds on Saturday night.

Brian Burrell completed 13 of 20 passes for 309 yards and two touchdowns for Fresno (1-3), which picked up its first win of the year.

Former BYU quarterback Ammon Olsen led Southern Utah (0-4) with 309 yards and two touchdowns on 16 of 28 passing.

Arkansas State 21, Utah State 14

At Jonesboro, Arkansas, Johnston White ran for 100 yards and the game-tying touchdown on 18 carries as the Red Wolves (2-2) knocked off the Aggies (2-2) in overtime.

Darell Garretson threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns with one interception for the Aggies in his first start of the year, replacing injured quarterback Chuckie Keeton.

Colorado 21, Hawaii 12

At Boulder, Colorado, Nelson Spruce recorded a school-record 13 passes for 172 yards, including a 71-yard touchdown, to help the Buffaloes (2-2) knock off Hawaii (1-3).

Steven Lakalaka ran for 123 yards on 19 carries to lead the Warriors.

Minnesota 24, San Jose State 7

At Minneapolis, David Cobb rolled by the Spartan defense with 207 yards and two touchdowns, while backup quarterback Chris Streveler ran for 161 yards and a touchdown to lead the Gophers (3-1) to a win over the Spartans (1-2).

Tyler Winston caught nine balls for 94 yards and a touchdown for San Jose State.

Houston 47, UNLV 14

At Houston, sophomore quarterback John O’Korn accounted for three touchdowns as the Cougars (2-2) eased past the Rebels (1-3) at home.

O’Korn threw for 135 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions, and he also ran for 27 yards and a score on 10 carries.

Keith Whitely ran for 82 yards and a touchdown for UNLV.

Oregon State 28, San Diego State 7

At Corvallis, Oregon, Sean Mannion became Oregon State’s all-time leader in career passing yards with 11,339 as the Beavers (3-0) routed the Aztecs (1-2).

Mannion threw for 275 yards on Saturday, and Terron Ward and Storm Woods each scored two touchdowns on the ground as Oregon State opened the season with three straight wins for the fifth time since 1999.

Donnel Pumphrey ran for 89 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries for San Diego State.
