SALT LAKE CITY — A woman was arrested Sunday after allegedly stealing beer and then throwing it at a store clerk and officers, police said.
Manda Mcaffee, 38, stole a 6-pack of Bud Light from the Maverick at 200 W. North Temple at about 8:26 a.m., according to the Salt Lake City Police Department.
Salt Lake police Det. Cody Lougy said Mcaffee then started throwing beer bottles at a clerk who observed her fleeing the scene and running down North Temple.
“Fortunately, we had some officers in that area they arrived fairly quick on the scene, but unfortunately, they were greeted by the same sort of response,” he said. “Manda began to throw glass beer bottles at them as well.”

Officers deployed a Taser CED to take Mcaffee into custody while she was in the process of throwing another bottle, according to investigators. She was taken into custody without incident, police said.
The bottles thrown by Mcaffee did not hit the officers or the clerk, according to Lougy. However, he said there was broken glass that needed to be cleaned up.
It is unknown whether Mcaffee was under the influence at the time of the incident. Mcaffee was arrested on suspicion of theft and two counts of aggravated assault, police said. She was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail.
Police have dealt with Mcaffee numerous times before, according to Lougy. Court documents show previous charges include theft and possession or use of a controlled substance.
