PARK CITY — A woman is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Sunday evening.
Around 8:30 p.m., a truck pulling a trailer was turning left onto state Route 224 from Sun Peak Drive while a female pedestrian was crossing the street in the crosswalk, according to Sgt. Mary Kaye Lucas with the Utah Highway Patrol.
"He turned and didn't see her until it was too late," Lucas said.
The woman was struck and was transported to the hospital via ambulance in critical condition, Lucas said.
She said the incident was still under investigation and it was not yet clear whether the driver of the truck could face charges in the incident.
Lucas said drivers should remember to check crosswalks before passing through an intersection. But she added that pedestrians walking at night should also wear light or reflective clothing and should pay attention to their surroundings.
"As a pedestrian you also want to make sure you're aware of the traffic around you," she said.
UDOT closed the intersection while crews were at the scene.
