SALT LAKE CITY — A man who allegedly broke into a business told police he had been stabbed before they discovered his blood at the scene of the break-in Saturday morning.
Around 3 a.m., a passerby saw the man with a cut on his back in the area of Redwood Road and Indiana Avenue and called emergency personnel, according to Salt Lake police Lt. Michael Ross.
Police investigated what the man claimed to be a stabbing and found a nearby business with a broken glass window where police believe the man had forcefully entered.
“It appears that he broke a window and as he was entering the business illegally, a piece of glass from above that was still attached to the window fell at that point and struck his back,” Ross said.
The man suffered a cut that was serious enough that police took him to the hospital, where he will undergo surgery, Ross said.
