SALT LAKE CITY — Thousands are flocking to this year's Comic Con. The three-day event that brings fans of science-fiction, anime and fantasy together doesn't begin for a few days, but lines for tickets are already out the door.
More than 120,000 tickets are expected to be sold this week, which is twice what they were leading up to the first Salt Lake Comic Con.
People waited in line for up to an hour, but they say it’s worth the wait.
“Oh, I’m excited. One of the big ones I’m looking forward to is two of the doctors — No. 9 and No. 6,” said Michael Read, Comic Con fan.
But not everyone at Comic Con is a fan. A volunteer with the event says he doesn’t read comics but wants to be a part of the convention.
“We’re all one big family on this planet, and if we start relating to each other as such we wouldn’t have any differences,” said Erik Prano, Comic Con volunteer.
Organizers predict the event will be the third largest convention in the nation. It begins Thursday, Sept. 4, and goes through Saturday, Sept. 6.
