2 killed in Box Elder County crash
A teenage boy and his grandmother were killed Saturday when a pickup truck ran into the side of their car north of Willard.
The 15-year-old Salt Lake County boy with a learner's permit was driving a Lexus with his 66-year-old grandmother, Ruth Nelson, of Box Elder County, in the passenger seat.
About 5:30 p.m., the boy was making a left turn onto U.S. 89 from Highway 315 when a southbound Toyota Tundra rammed into the side of the vehicle, according to Willard police officer Jean Loveland.
Police recover stolen vehicle involved in theft of police equipment
Police recovered a stolen vehicle involved in the theft of police equipment Friday night but are still searching for the missing equipment.
The stolen Toyota Corolla was found Sunday morning near 1700 S. Pearl Ave. in Salt Lake City, according to Heber City police officer Xela Thomas.
Thomas said detectives processed the vehicle for forensic evidence, but no stolen items have been recovered.
2 Mormon missionaries' deaths possibly caused by carbon monoxide leak
Two LDS missionaries who died while serving in Taiwan are believed to have been killed by a carbon monoxide leak in their apartment, according to news reports in Taipei.
Connor Benjamin Thredgold, 19, of Springville, and Yu Peng Xiong, 24, of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, were found dead in their apartment Saturday in New Taipei City’s Sanchong District.
Police stop man driving vehicle suspected in robberies before he flees
Police were looking Sunday for a man who escaped officers following a high-speed chase.
Jorge Zamora, 20, was seen driving a white Chevy Tahoe at 2:26 a.m. with two other passengers. Police suspected it was the same vehicle involved in previous robberies around the valley and attempted to pull it over, said Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal.
Zamora has eight warrants out for his arrest that range from theft, drugs and fleeing from authorities, Hoyal said.
LDS missionary dies following Oklahoma car accident
An LDS sister missionary critically injured in a Friday car crash has died.
Sister Nancy Vea, 19, of West Jordan, was taken by medical helicopter to St. John Medical Center in Tulsa and was on life support, said Jessica Moody, a spokeswoman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She died at the hospital.
"We have received confirmation that Sister Nancy Ann Vea has passed away. Funeral arrangements are still being made by the family,” Moody said.
