SANDY — Police asked for help Monday to identify a man who they say sexually assaulted a juvenile girl in Target.
The girl was shopping at the Target located at 10130 South State Street with a friend when a man she didn’t know approached her at about 4 p.m. on August 7, according to the Sandy Police Department.
“He followed them around the store for a brief period, stepped in front of their path — stopping them on an aisle — spoke to them briefly and then sexually assaulted the juvenile female,” said Sandy police Sgt. Dean Carriger.
The man groped the girl and then left the store and was seen driving away in a white pickup truck, according to police. Carriger said the truck appears to be a four-door Dodge 1500 model.
Store security surveillance caught the man and his truck on camera, investigators said.
Anyone with information about the man’s identity or the incident can contact the Sandy Police Department by calling dispatch at 801-799-3000 or the tip-line at 801-568-4636. Tips can also be submitted online at sandy.utah.gov/police under the Investigations Division tab.
