SALT LAKE CITY — Sometimes known as the ‘sea hawk,' ‘fish eagle' or ‘fish hawk,' the osprey is a large raptor that feeds primarily on fish swimming at or just below the water's surface.
The osprey is particularly well adapted to a fish diet. The bird also has a worldwide distribution, found on most continents except Antarctica.
Ospreys can be found all over Utah, from Bear Lake in the north to Lake Powell in the south.
