DALLAS —Utah is already playing host to a handful of children believed to have crossed the border illegally and unsupervised, KSL has learned.

In an interview with Utah's Morning News on KSL Newsradio, Texas-based reporter for ABC news Jim Ryan said there is concern children crossing the border without adult supervision will ultimately be sent not just to his state but beyond, including to non-border states like Utah.

"About eight kids are being housed [in Utah]," already, Ryan said, saying they had been sent to Utah before the current crisis began.

"Governor Herbert has sent a letter to the White House saying that [bringing those children here is going to] place an undue burden on his state and on other states, too," Ryan said.

Congress has just a few more days to act on immigration reform before the August recess begins on Friday. Becky Bruce is the executive producer of Utah's Morning News on KSL Newsradio.
