ST. GEORGE — Two men were arrested after a confrontation that sent another man to the hospital Wednesday, police said.

A report of a stabbing at an apartment near 600 North and 500 West was received by dispatch at about 6:40 a.m., according to the St. George Police Department. Alexander Gatherum and Taylor Cole Hintz were arrested in connection to the stabbing, police said.

“One of the other parties involved in the altercation had made his way to the hospital having sustained some knife wounds to his torso,” a statement from the police reads. “He was taken into surgery and is anticipated to survive.”

Gatherum was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hintz was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, receiving stolen property and a misdemeanor arrest warrant.

The incident is still under investigation by the St. George Police Department and the Washington County Attorney's Office, according to police. More information will be added as it becomes available.
