SALT LAKE CITY — An ex-boyfriend stabbed a woman’s new boyfriend in a fight Tuesday, police said.
The fight broke out on the 700 block of Jeremy Street at about 12:13 a.m., according to the Salt Lake City Police Department. When officers arrived, they found the two men fighting in the street, according to Lt. Dave Cracroft.
One man had been stabbed three times and was bleeding profusely from his side while going in and out of consciousness, he said. The man, who is in his 20s, was transported to a local hospital, where his condition is improving, according to police.

“What it was is the ex-boyfriend was angry at the new boyfriend, had a few words, started a fight and it ended up the old boyfriend stabbed the new boyfriend,” Cracroft said. “The old boyfriend then ran and hid in a shed out back.”
Officers located Emilio Johnson, 23, and arrested him on suspicion of aggravated assault with a knife, Cracroft said. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail.
The woman’s young child was present at the time of the fight, Cracroft said. Johnson is the father of the child, according to Detective Cody Lougy.
