ALTONAH — Officials expect containment of a fire that was started by lightning near Altamont on Friday.
The North Gulf Fire was reported at approximately 5:35 p.m. according to Dirk Huber, assistant center manager at the Uintah Basin Fire Center.
Shortly after the fire started, Huber said a wind gust picked it up and moved it through the grass and sage quickly.
Huber said crews expect the fire to be contained by Friday night.
The fire was estimated to be five acres. No structures were threatened.
