HUNTINGTON, Emery County — A woman is undergoing multiple surgeries after her husband shot her outside of their home, officials say.

Around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Emery County Sheriff’s Office dispatch was notified that a woman had been shot once and the man, Chad Robert Snyder, 36, was inside their residence with a gun, the sheriff’s office said.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene, where deputies arrested Snyder without incident.

The woman was transported to an area hospital by ambulance. She was undergoing multiple surgeries Monday to repair the gunshot wound.

In 2008, Snyder took a plea in abeyance in Emery County Justice Court to misdemeanor assault in a domestic violence-related case, according to court records. He was ordered to undergo domestic violence counseling.

Utah court records show Snyder was also found guilty of felony drug distribution in 2004. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail in 2006 for conviction of reckless driving, which was reduced from DUI.

Snyder was also found guilty of DUI and driving on a suspended license in 2011 and sentenced to 14 days in jail, according to court records. In 2012, Snyder was convicted of "unlawful purchase by an interdicted person," a class B misdemeanor. He was placed on probation and ordered to wear an ankle monitor for five months, according to court records.
