SOUTH JORDAN — A Utah mother was arrested for her third alleged DUI charge in the past three years. A 6-year-old child was in the car during the most recent incident.

According to court documents, 41-year-old Darcy Wallace was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Friday.

Around 1 p.m. Friday, South Jordan police said Wallace ran a red light and stopped on the grass of the Holiday Oil gas station at 10400 South and 4000 West.

"One of the witnesses thought she just passed out and rolled through the intersection," said officer Sam Winkler of the South Jordan Police Department.

Police said Wallace had a blood alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit, and an open container of vodka was found in the car. Wallace also had a 6-year-old passenger.

Mike Simmons, Wallace's neighbor, said he's not surprised. In April 2011, Wallace drove straight into his home near 7500 South and 3500 West, knocking a giant hole into the front of the brick house.

Two children, ages 9 and 3, were in the car during the 2011 accident. Wallace was charged and pleaded guilty to DUI.

Almost eight months later, Wallace was arrested a second time for drinking and driving. She was sentenced to 450 days in jail and required to use an ignition interlock. The ignition interlock, police said, was not found in her car on Friday.

"This lady needs help big time," Simmons said.
