OGDEN — Ogden police have identified the man killed Thursday evening, and are now investigating the death as a homicide.

Police were contacted around 10:15 p.m. by a woman who reported finding a body inside a storage unit near 2900 Pennsylvania Avenue, according to Ogden Police deputy director John Harvey. The man was identified as Elgie Ray Mills Jr., 43.

Officers confirmed that multiple locations were involved in the overnight homicide and that search warrants are being served at several locations. Several witnesses were also being interviewed Friday afternoon.

Harvey said an autopsy is being performed to detail the cause of death, but the information about the cause of death has not yet been released.

The police are searching for a "person of interest" who is believed to have been with the suspect close to the time of time, Harvey said. The person of interest was identified as Shawn Gerrald Boehme, 45. He is described as male, 6 feet 2 inches tall and 150 pounds.

Police said Boehme abandoned a red 1989 Ford F-150 extended cab pickup truck with a Utah license plate Y192RM. The vehicle was recovered in west Weber County, but Boehme has not been located.

Boehme is considered dangerous, and caution should be exercised in the event he is located.

"We have a systematic approach to this investigation," Harvey said, "and we will leave no stone unturned until we come to the conclusion of this investigation."

A search of court records indicates Mills pleaded guilty in 2013 to violation of a protective order, failing to stop at the command of law enforcement, and interfering with an arresting officer.

Court records also indicate Boehme pleaded guilty to multiple charges from 1997 to 2007, including possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence, failure to stop at the command of police, attempted assault by prisoner, and theft.
