RIVERSIDE, Box Elder County — A motorcyclist was severely injured when an elderly couple from out-of-state drove through a stop sign Wednesday, police said.
The accident occurred at the junction of State Route 30 and State Route 13 at 3:36 p.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce. An elderly couple from Oregon was driving a red Kia when they failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a motorcycle while passing through the intersection, investigators said.
After clipping the motorcycle, Royce said the Kia collided with a Dodge truck in the same intersection.
The motorcyclist was transported by air to a hospital in the Salt Lake area with severe injuries to his extremities, police said. The injuries to the motorcyclist were not thought to be life-threatening, Royce said.
The elderly couple was transported to a local hospital, he said. There is a possibility the couple was unfamiliar with the area, but police are still investigating the cause of the crash, Royce said.
